Sleep that won’t come or won’t refresh

You cannot switch off at night. The mind races the moment your head hits the pillow, you claw back the evening you never quite got, you go to bed too late, and morning never feels like enough. Sleep is a battle at both ends.

For many neurodivergent brains the body clock genuinely runs late, and a mind that will not idle does not wind down on command. So falling asleep is hard, the sleep itself is often light and unrefreshing, and the tiredness then worsens everything else the next day. It is not poor discipline. The system is wired this way.

Because everyone has the odd bad night, chronic sleep difficulty gets normalised or blamed on screens and habits, and its role at the centre of mood, focus and stress goes unrecognised. People run on too little sleep for years and assume that is just how it is.

We treat sleep as a core part of the picture, not an afterthought, because it shapes almost everything else. None of this is a diagnosis. It is what we explore with you.
