Brain health · Sanctum
You are rigid about your systems, not because you love order, but because they are the only thing holding the chaos together. The routine is a lifeline, and when it breaks, everything breaks with it.
When ADHD and autism sit together, this is a common knot: a forgetful, scattered, novelty-seeking brain that also clings hard to sameness, because structure is the scaffolding that makes functioning possible at all. The rigidity is not the opposite of the chaos, it is the response to it.
Because the two look contradictory, chaotic yet controlling, each gets misread on its own, and the way they depend on each other is missed. Lose the routine and the disorganisation floods in, which is why a small disruption can feel catastrophic.
We look at why the routine matters so much, not just that it does, because the reason connects the whole picture. None of this is a diagnosis. It is what we explore with you.
