Frequently Asked Questions
ADHD Treatments
The most effective treatments for ADHD in children typically involve a combination of medication and behavioural therapy. Stimulant medications, such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamines (Adderall), are commonly prescribed and have been shown to improve focus and reduce hyperactivity and impulsivity. Non-stimulant medications, like atomoxetine (Strattera), may also be used. Behavioural therapy focuses on teaching children skills to manage their symptoms and improve behaviour. At Sanctum Healthcare, we provide a holistic approach, combining these treatments with educational support and family counselling to ensure comprehensive care.
Yes, there are several non-medication options for managing ADHD symptoms. Behavioural therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and parent training in behaviour management are effective strategies. These therapies help children develop skills to control their impulses, stay organised, and improve their social interactions. Additionally, lifestyle changes such as regular physical activity, a healthy diet, and establishing a consistent routine can also help manage symptoms. At Sanctum Healthcare, we emphasise a comprehensive treatment plan that includes these non-medication approaches to support your child’s overall well-being.
Parents play a crucial role in supporting their child’s ADHD treatment plan. Staying informed about ADHD and its treatments, maintaining open communication with healthcare providers, and being consistent with therapy and medication schedules are essential. Creating a structured environment at home, using positive reinforcement, and establishing clear expectations and routines can also help manage symptoms. At Sanctum Healthcare, we offer parent training programs and resources to help families effectively support their child’s treatment journey, ensuring the best possible outcomes for their development and quality of life.
