Brain health · Sanctum
Your interests run deeper than people expect. You can lose yourself in a subject for hours, know it inside out, and return to it again and again, and the depth and intensity are not quite like other people’s hobbies.
This is a genuine strength as much as a feature. A brain that fixes intensely on what it loves brings real expertise, focus and joy. With ADHD in the mix the interests may churn and change, diving deep then moving on; with autism they may stay and deepen for years. Either way they are central, not trivial.
Because deep interest can look like obsession or being one-track, it gets gently discouraged rather than valued, especially in girls, where an intense interest in something ordinary hides in plain sight. The richness of it gets missed.
We treat your interests as meaningful, a source of strength and a clue both, not something to grow out of. None of this is a diagnosis. It is what we explore with you.
